The newly elected Liga ng mga Barangay Provincial Chapter President Ramon Guio "Ram" A. Ortega, Jr. is the newest member of the 23rd Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) who took his oath of office, administered by Vice Gov. Mario Eduardo C. Ortega during the 83rd Regular Session on January 30, 2024 at SP Building, Provincial Capitol, City of San Fernando, La Union.

During the session, SPM Ram delivered his first privilege speech wherein he expressed his gratitude for the August Body’s warm welcome. Though a neophyte in the Provincial Board, he is not new in community leadership for he has been exposed to public service being in a family of public servants and a former Sangguniang Kabataan President in 2010 and Liga ng mga Barangay President in 2018 in the City of San Fernando.

With a wealth of experience in public service, SPM Ram assumed the pivotal role of representing the 576 barangays in the province particularly in formulating policies that will directly and positively impact KaPROBINSYAnihan. “I am happy and ready to be of service to our beloved Province of La Union,” SPM Ram said.

The Vice Governor and SP Members expressed their enthusiasm for the new addition to the 23rd SP; challenging him to already start working for he has a big shoe to fill referring to the accomplishments of former Liga ng mga Barangay Provincial President Geraldine R. Ortega. The collaboration between provincial and grassroots leaders is expected to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of governance at every level.

“Ang puso nasa barangay, ang puso nasa probinsya ng La Union, Pudno met nga agserbi,” SPM Ram said as he embraces the new challenges of serving the people on a provincewide scale and bringing a fresh perspective and grassroots insight in the SP.
