PGLU IMPROVES EMPLOYABILITY OF LA UNION YOUTH

Improving the core employability skills of young jobseekers and increasing their confidence and good work ethics when they enter the labor market as part of the workforce, the Provincial Government of La Union through the Public Employment Service Office successfully conducted the Employability Enhancement Training for Young Jobseekers at the Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU) Covered Court, Catbangen, City of San Fernando, La Union.

The activity was divided into two batches and attended by 1,825 participants coming from the different college departments of DMMMSU-MLUC. It was conducted in partnership with the Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University – Mid La Union Campus (DMMMSU-MLUC) through their school-based PESO, the Trabaho Center.

On behalf of Gov. Raphaelle Veronica “Rafy” Ortega-David, Executive Assistant IV, Mr. Justo H. Orros III delivered her message to the young jobseekers, “Your first step into the professional world is not just about finding a job; it's about discovering your potential, embracing new challenges, and building the foundation for a successful career."

DMMMSU-MLUC Chancellor, Dr. Eduardo C. Corpuz, through the Students Affair Services Head, Ms. Dodilyn D. Bermudez, also expressed his sincere gratitude to all collaborating partner agencies and active participation of the young jobseekers in the activity. “On behalf of our chancellor Dr. Eduardo C. Corpuz, allow me to thank our benefactors from PESO, PGLU, and TESDA for sharing their time and resources with us, especially to you are dear graduating students. Soon you will leave the Mid La Union campus to face the reality of life. As soon-to-be professionals, you are now going to end the chapter of your student’s life and start your career life.”

PGLU-PESO and DMMMSU Trabaho Center invited Resource Speakers from the PGLU-Provincial Information Office, Ms. Darbie Ann R. Fernandez who talked about You and Your Career; Technical Education and Skills Development Authority – La Union (TESDA-La Union), Ms. Juvy C. Cahiga discussed the topics on TESDA Competency Assessment and Entrepreneurship/Self-Employment; DMMMSU-MLUC, Ms. Dodilyn R. Bermudez shared about the Trabaho Center Programs and Services and Provincial PESO Manager, Ms. Charito C. Dator oriented the young jobseekers on PESO Programs and the Find Jobs La Union Employment Portal.

The Employability Enhancement Training for young jobseekers aims to raise awareness on nurturing the employability skills that are essential for their future success and to assist them to acquire a better understanding of what it means to land a job in the world of work. In #LaUnionPROBINSYAnihan, the PGLU supports activities including job-readiness training, job search assistance, and career guidance for all the jobseekers in the province.
