Gov. Rafy welcomes various International Guests during courtesy calls

La Union continues to go global, as Gov. Raphaelle Veronica "Rafy" Ortega-David welcomed various international guests in a series of courtesy calls on October 12, 2023.

Officials from Taebaek City, Gangwon Province, South Korea met with Gov. Rafy, as they opened discussions for potential partnerships on programs for Climate Change Mitigation. A sister city of Bauang, La Union, the Taebaek City delegation was led by the City Budget Officer Yong Dae Ung. They were accompanied by Bauang LGU officials led by Mayor Eulogio Clarence Martin P. De Guzman III, and La Union Environment Officer Annalyn R. Valdez.

Meanwhile, international students who are presently cross-enrolled at the Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University North La Union Campus (DMMMSU NLUC) expressed to Gov. Rafy about their excitement to stay and study in La Union. Acccompanied by DMMMSU Director for International Affairs Dr. Jesus Rafael Jarata and faculty member Jerald Saculles, the international students from Indonesia have come from Universitas Kristen, Universitas Jambi, Universitas Nusa Cendana, and Universitas Peri Semarang.

Representatives from the Internationally-renowned talent, the Philippine Madrigal Singers, also paid a courtesy visit as they shared about the Northern Tour of the Banaag Concert of the group.

Finally, Kaprobinsiaans continue to shine in international arena, as proven by students from Luna National High School (NHS) who raked medals during the Philippine International Mathematical Olympiad. Gov. Rafy relayed her congratulations to the Luna NHS, led by School Principal Jovita Lopez, for showing once again the excellence of Kaprobinsiaan.
