PGLU-OPAg, LU Agri-Sector Join National Information Caravan to Promote Agriculture, Economic Development

The Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPAg), under the leadership of OIC-Provincial Agriculturist Ms. Sharon A. Viloria, together with local farmers, fisherfolks, and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) from the province participated in the National Information Caravan 2023 hosted by the Department of Agriculture (DA). The event, held in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte on September 20, 2023, focused on advancing agriculture and boosting economic growth within the region.

Bearing the theme, “Masaganang Agrikultura, Maunlad na Ekonomiya Tungo sa Bagong Pilipinas,” the Information Caravan aimed to raise awareness among farmers and fisherfolks in Region 1 by providing them with valuable and dependable information about the various services offered by the DA.

The event served as a platform for government agencies, local leaders, and stakeholders to come together and discuss strategies for enhancing the agricultural sector by empowering farmers and fisherfolks with the knowledge and resources necessary to improve their quality of life and contribute to the economic development of Region 1 including the province of La Union.

The support of Gov. Raphaelle Veronica "Rafy" Ortega-David in the province's agriculture sector is likewise exemplified through the active participation of OPAg in the said caravan, sending a clear message that her administration prioritizes the well-being of kaprobinsiaan farmers and fisherfolks.

With #LaUnionPROBINSYAnihan of OPAg, local farmers, fisherfolks, and CSOs, there is a renewed sense of hope and determination to transform the agricultural landscape of La Union and the lives of people in the agricultural sector.
