LU SP Approves Memorandum of Understanding with Urban Youth Academy

On Tuesday, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of La Union approved the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Urban Youth Academy (UYA) and granted the Honorable Governor Raphaelle Veronica Rafy Ortega David the authority to enter and sign the said documents during the 57th Regular Session of the 23rd Sangguniang Panlalawigan on August 1, 2023.
This aims to broaden the knowledge of the youth on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and to expose them to current development initiatives that are directly or indirectly contributing to the United Nations Agenda 2030, while creating more chances for in-depth research partnerships and education exchanges.
“We are honored to be one of the selected Local Government Units in the Philippines to enter into a developmental partnership with the Urban Youth Academy (UYA),” Sangguniang Kabataan Federation President Hon. Alyssa Kristine Sibuma said in an interview.
BM Sibuma said the MOU is a part of the Province of La Union Development Strategy, which encourages access and collaboration between institutions. She said strengthening this partnership agreement helps the province promote social well-being, Intellectual, and moral recovery, and youth empowerment as outlined in La Union’s vision and programs. Furthermore, it will pave the way for strengthening the relationship and the shared vision of the Province and the Organization (UYA) in developing the youth to learn and hone their skills necessary to participate in sustainable development goal-related activities.
Meanwhile, Provincial Sannguniang Panlalawigan Members led by Vice Gov. Mario Eduardo C. Ortega expressed their support in this new development. “Strengthening connections between our province and international partners (UYA) offers great mutual benefit, the agreement paves the way for several important opportunities for the youth. I truly believe in the value of international collaboration and partnership especially when it comes to the future of our Youth," he reiterated in his speech.
This partnership is geared towards Gov. Rafy Ortega David's agenda on #LaUnionProbinsiyanihan and #StrongerLaUnion as it will bring recognition to the Province of La Union on a global platform and build further opportunities for the Youth of the province.
