The Provincial Government of La Union, through the leadership of Gov. Rafy Ortega-David, is resolute to maintain strong collaboration with the Philippine Information Agency (PIA), as they share common goal to empower and capacitate Information Officers (IOs) to keep up with the shifts in government communications.
In a courtesy call by PIA Regional Office 1 led by Regional Director Jennilyne C. Role on August 16, 2023, Gov. Rafy underscored her governance thrust to enable IOs become more innovative, dynamic and forward-thinkers.
"Times are changing, and so are our work in the government. Hence, we should also update and elevate our ways to inform and engage with the public," Gov. Rafy said.
Gov. Rafy also welcomed the new PIA La Union Information Center Manager Chester Trinidad, along with PIA personnel Kathlene Ramones and Roland Naoe.
Gov. Rafy expressed full support to the information and communication initiatives of the PIA, such as the strengthening of the La Union Association of Government Information Officers (LUAGIO).
She also directed Provincial Information Officer Rowan Joshua Dimaculangan to enjoin IOs to embody their crucial role in #LaUnionPROBINSIYANIHAN. As such, the PGLU-PIO shall further concretize linkage with local media, and with government IOs in the component local government units (LGU) through the Information Officers of La Union Guild (IOLUG).
