PGLU, Chinese Embassy Provides Relief Donation to 1000 Fisherfolks affected by Egay

During the onslaught of Super Typhoon Egay in the province earlier this month, the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) took immediate action to provide relief to 1,000 affected kaprobinsiaan fisherfolks and their families.

With the donation from the Consular Office of the Chinese Embassy, the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPAg) led the distribution of food packs to 13 coastal villages in the province. Said assistance aimed to mitigate the impact of the typhoon as their routine livelihood were temporarily disrupted.

Recipients from the City of San Fernando figures at 250 while Sto. Tomas at 228. Bacnotan with 222 receipients, Luna. 61; Balaoan, 57; Agoo, 51; Bauang; Aringay, 29; Caba, 23; Bangar, 21; San Juan, 9; Naguilian, 3; and Rosario, 2.

Ms. Leony O. Gagni, La Union Fishery Coordinator, explained that the distribution was organized based on a "First Come, First Serve" basis, with names submitted by LGU Fishery Coordinators. This approach was in line with the donor's advice, ensuring that the relief items reached the affected residents of the province promptly.

The distribution of relief food packs serves as a testament to the province's resilience and PGLU and its partner stakeholders to La Union PROBINSYAnihan.
