PGLU Intensifies Anti-Smoke Belching Campaign in the Province

In an effort to strengthen air quality management, the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU), through the Provincial Government - Environment and Natural Resources Office (PG-ENRO) in collaboration with Land Transportation Office-Region I (LTO-I), Department of Environment and Natural Resources-EMB Region I (EMB-I), and Local Government Unit of Agoo conducted roadside Vehicle Emission Testing along the main road of Agoo, La Union on June 27, 2023.
The vehicles suspected of violating emission standards through visual signs were flagged down by the apprehending officers from LTO. The emission test was initiated by the personnel of EMB-I and assisted by PG-ENRO deputized personnel using gas analyzer for gas-fueled vehicles and opacimeter for diesel-fueled vehicles.
A total of 87 vehicles were inspected and tested, 52 were gas-fueled vehicles while 35 were diesel-fueled vehicles. The drivers and/or owners of the vehicles who failed the emission test were given violation receipts by LTO-I and were advised to take their vehicles for preventive maintenance check to avoid emitting air pollution.
The Anti-Smoke Belching campaign is part of the air environmental management initiatives of the PGLU through its #KalikasanNaman campaign and Governor's call for #LaUnionPROBINSYAnihan which aims to inculcate among our kaprobinsiaan the significance of having a clean air and encourage them to take their part in making our province a safe place to live in.
