FDA General Director Visits PasaLUbong Center, LU Capitol Impressed with MSME Empowerment; Plans Future Partnerships

Taking pride in the high-quality and wide variety of La Union products, the Provincial Government of La Union welcomed Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) Director General Samuel Zacate; Cluster Director Mr. Gomel C. Gabuna; and representatives from FDA Central Office and FDA Region I at the La Union Agri-Tourism Center, Mabanag Hall, Barangay II, City of San Fernando, La Union on April 28, 2023.

The delegation paid a courtesy visit to Gov. Raphaelle Veronica "Rafy" Ortega-David highlighting future partnerships on improving trade and investment climate in the province.

Provincial Administrator Ms. Agnes Grace A. Cargamento and Assistant Department Head Ms. Angela Grace C. Peralta of Local Economic Enterprise and Investment Promotions Unit (LEEIPU) were also present to discuss plans for future program partnerships between the FDA and the PGLU through LEEIPU. These cover policies, regulations and certification for products of micro, small medium enterprises (MSME) in the Province of La Union to help them reach a wider market for their products.

FDA and PGLU recognize the significant value and impact of the MSMEs and their contribution to the local economy. In pursuit to become the Heart of Agri-Tourism in Northern Luzon by 2025, the PGLU through LEEIPU will continue to support the MSMEs in providing technical assistance and trainings for them to be able to create more jobs, increase productivity and ensuring the safety and quality of their products in the market.
