The Provincial Government of La Union continues to empower kaprobinsiaan to be informed and participative citizens through the capacitation of the different Information Officer (IO) designates of La Unionโs component Local Government Units (LGUs) who are also members of the Information Officers of La Union Guild (IOLUG) during their Fourth Quarter Meeting on October 14, 2022 at the Provincial Capitol, City of San Fernando, La Union.
Among the main agenda of the meeting was the election of IOLUG Officers wherein Mr. Michael Jerome Mabanag of the City of San Fernando was elected as President; Ms. Cristina C. Marvida of Rosario as Vice-President; Atty. Rollidel R. Concepcion of Balaoan as Secretary; Mr. Marc Jandel Buccat of Bacnotan as Treasurer; Mr. Jeffrey C. Patacsil of Naguilian as Auditor; Mr. Joel S. Rilloraza of Luna as P.R.O.; Ms. Juliet C. Dawara of San Gabriel as First District Representative; and Mr. Teodoro A. Buma-a, Jr. of Pugo as Second District Representative.
Information Officer III and Information Center Manager of the Philippine Information Agency La Union Ms. Joanne Namnama P. Dilim shared her expertise on the topic Public Access to Information through Social Media to the IOLUG members as part of their capacity building. The IOs learned Social Media 101 in LGUs; Increasing Social Media Presence; Five Content Pillars; and Types of Social Media Content to Produce.
Best practice sharing was also done wherein the IO designates were able to cite how they handle information in their respective LGUs and engage citizens to participate in their Programs, Projects and Activities. They also cited Social Media Listening, Iloko Writing, and benchmarking as among the best practices.
The IOLUG affirms their commitment to be active in taking part in La Union PROBINSYAnihan.
