In line with the P.U.S.O. Agenda of Gov. Raphaelle Veronica โRafyโ Ortega-David, Dr. Rex Victor Cruz from the University of the Philippines Los Baรฑos, College of Forestry and Natural Resources presented and discussed the Institutionalization of Guidelines on Watershed Integrated Area Land Use Planning towards Resiliency (WILUP) during the WILUP Meeting held last September 07, 2022 at Old SP Building Conference Room.
This is proposed to be the linkage and integration in enhancing a sustainable and resilient Comprehensive Land Use Plans and Provincial Physical Framework and Development Plan where the province can adopt a Ridge to Reef-based Land Use Planning Approach and Framework that promotes synergy and efficiency and minimizing losses of ecosystem services. The study identified the importance of the sectoral-based development that helps to work hand in hand to strengthen the integration of land use plans and development to maximize the use of resources in a proper manner and in accordance with the needs of the communities.
Also discussed during the meeting were various local planning issues and concerns related in the development of the plans and the challenge on how to harmonize the guidelines of the different National Government Agencies in order to develop better plans of Local Government Units.
The said activity was attended by the Office of the Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator headed by EnP Michaela Louise T. Delfinado, Plans and Programs Unit Staff, together with the Office of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Board Member Victor I. Rivera, Committee on Housing, Land Use and Relocation and the Office of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Ex-Officio Board Member Geraldine R. Ortega, Committee on Agriculture & Aquatic Resources and the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Secretariat.
