Ensuring the implementation of enacted ordinances in the Province, the Committee on Ways and Means chaired by Board Member Victor I. Rivera conducted a Legislative Consultation with the members of the Local Finance Committee (LFC) on July 21, 2022 as an initiative of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan to ensure that the SP members are all aware of the execution of the current programs, projects, and activities that the province is currently conducting in connection with the realm of the said Committee and the possible legislative needs of its partner departments that may be incorporated in the making of the Executive and Legislative Agenda.
The consultation was actively attended by Provincial Budget Officer Ms. Catherine E. Franco, Provincial Treasurer Ms. Janet D. Molina, Provincial Accountant Atty. Albert F. Padilla, Provincial Assessor Engr. Arnulfo A. Cacho, Ms. Daphne V. Obana, SP Secretariat Staff in-charge with the Committee and staff of the Committee Chair.
The members of the LFC identified and recommended seven subjects for legislation and be considered as legislative proposals under the Executive and Legislative Agenda (ELA) under the committee.
Priorities enumerated includes the amendment of the Sand and Gravel Ordinance; Engagement with the Services of Private Sectors on E-Payments and E-Collections; Enhancement of Real Property Taxes Assessment and Collection; Resolution to Professional Associations and the Professional Regulatory Commission on Profession taxes, Ordinance in Support to the Bantay Colorum of REBAP, PRC and NBI; Insertion of the Missing Provisions/Sections on the General Revision Ordinance and lastly, Amendment of the Ordinance Recognizing the Top Performing LGUs on Tax Collection and to include, for recognition, are Top Performing LGUs on Tax Assessment.
The matters discussed are all vital and great indicators in the fulfillment of Gov. Rafyβs #LaUnionPROBINSYAnihan towards a progressive and #StrongerLaUnion, a province worth living in.
