With the continuous practice of #LaUnionPROBINSYAnihan, the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) continues to build stronger ties with the different Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), Non-Government Organizations, and Peopleโ€™s Organization in the Province of La Union.

The Office of the Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator (OPPDC) and the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) conducted a meeting on July 11, 2022 at the Office of Board Member Ruperto A. Rillera, Jr., Vice-Chairperson of the Committee on Peopleโ€™s Organizations, Non-Government Organizations and Indigenous Peoples to discuss the accreditation process of CSOs operating in the province.

During the said meeting, PPDC Michaela Louise T. Delfinado, discussed with Board Member Rillera the guidelines for the accreditation of CSOs, which will commence in the first week of August 2022; the major activities to be undertaken and the timeline which incluedes the Inventory and Directory of CSOs, Call for Accreditation, Accreditation Process, Selection of Representatives to the Local Special Bodies, Reconstitution and Convening the CSOs, among others. She likewise informed Board Member Rillera that there is a designated CSO Desk Officer in the Province in the person of EnP. Glo Ann B. Miranda, Supervising Administrative Officer of the OPPDC.

Pursuant to Article 64 of the Implementing Rules and Regulations of the Local Government Code, the LGUs, upon the assumption of the newly-elected Sanggunian must have an accreditation of CSOs for the purpose of representation in the local special bodies (LSBs).

A total of 119 CSOs in the entire Province were accredited by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan for the period 2019-2021. Some of them were selected to sit as representatives to the different LSBs and actively participated in the local governance and development process in the PGLU. However, all accredited CSOs were encouraged to renew their accreditation to the SP in order to be entitled for a representation in a local special body.
