The Sangguniang Panlalawigan of the Province of La Union has approved a resolution that authorizes Governor Francisco Emmanuel βPacoyβ R. Ortega III to enter into a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU) in support for the establishment of the DMMMSU College of Medicine in the province, as well as enhancement of the existing DMMMSU College Community Health and Allied Medical Science.
Hon. Jennifer C. Mosuela-Fernandez the main sponsor of the said resolution (Provincial Resolution No. 420-2022) disclosed that the proposed agreement between the Provincial Government of La Union and DMMMSU is executed to set forth the duties and obligations of both parties with respect to the establishment of the DMMMSU College of Medicine in the province, as well as enhancement of the existing DMMMSU College Community Health and Allied Medical Science.
She then underscored the importance of establishing a DMMMSU College of Medicine, College Community Health and Allied Medical Science in the province in order to augment human resources in the medical field that cater to the needs of the public and ensure that health services can be better availed by all.
The PGLU is looking forward to the much anticipated establishment of the first College of Medicine in the Province which shall offer more accessible education to medically inclined students in the La Union and nearby provinces.
