As the second quarter of the year 2022 commences, Gov. Francisco Emmanuel โPacoyโ R. Ortega III discussed new updates and opportunities with focus on the welfare of employees in the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) in his message during the Monday Flag Raising Ceremony of the PGLU on April 4, 2022 at the Capitol Grounds, City of San Fernando, La Union.
Gov. Pacoy gave assurance to the employees on their continued employee compensation and benefits. He also announced the adoption of the four-day work week in the PGLU except for hospitals and those who render frontline emergency services effective on April 11, 2022 for the next two months to help employees cope with the increasing fuel price and other price increases for basic commodities.
As his last quarter as the Provincial Governor of La Union, Gov. Pacoy reminisced how the employees of the PGLU parted from business-as-usual operations in 2016 to becoming committed to a transformative good governance journey โ his legacy of leadership in La Union. The Performance Governance System journey of PGLU is now in its final stage this 2022, the Institutionalization Stage. With the effects of the pandemic, the province has adopted a new strategy to build a Stronger La Union, a safe, secure, self-sufficient and sustainable province.
Gov. Pacoy took the opportunity to express his gratitude to the employees. โThank you to each and everyone of you for we have weathered the storm, special mention to our dear frontliners.โ He also gave acknowledgement to the financial team of the PGLU who unceasingly executed their duties to ensure good financial management in the capitol especially that this week will be marked with the Commission on Audit exit conference. The week will also mark the third-party audit for PGLU Offices and Hospitals for the ISO certification for Integrated Management System which integrates the existing Quality Management System of the PGLU.
Following the successful selling of the Bauang Diesel Power Plant, this paves way for the funding of priority programs of PGLU to include the execution of the Devolution Transition Plan. โThis is essential as we have started preparations for the smooth transition to the new administrationโฆone which I'm sure will continue the transformative governance journey that we have startedโฆ we will continue to improve the way we do things to give better services because we can only give what we have,โ he added. Finally, he encouraged the audience to accept the challenges that come the way and believe that God is in control.
