Featuring his best contemporary works, multi-awarded local painter and former President of Artists Guild of La Union (AGLAUN) Rodel Rillera opened his one-man art exhibit β€œLadawan” at Robinson’s Place La Union’s 4th Level Sunset Dining on February 26, 2022. The exhibit which will run until March 26, 2022, is a testament of the ARTablado initiative of the said mall as a platform to support and promote La Union’s local genius in the arts.

The opening of the exhibit was graced by the Provincial Government of La Union staff represented by La Union Provincial Tourism Office (LUPTO) Officer-in-Charge Mr. Arthur S. Cortez, Jr., the mall’s Operations Manager Ms. Dianne Javier-Orpilla, and Marketing Officer Mr. Von Gregor Rosario, other AGLAUN artist members, and a local band.

In an interview during Ladawan’s opening, Rillera shares his firm belief that art is timeless. β€œI don’t have to prove anything with my art. I only paint what I feel, rather than what I see,” he added.

A civic leader, nature lover, and compassionate artist, RIllera’s sublime artistry defines his works. Through the years, he has initiated efforts to bring the beauty of arts to the communities in La Union. His unique style and clear cut technique has gained national recognition, winning art competitions organized by prestigious art institutions. His monotone presentation of micro-dots that construct images is a developed, captivating signature style. Known as β€œThe Lord of the Moon and Ecology”, Rillera also has staged several exhibitions both in the country and abroad. These accomplishments and experiences contributed to his affiliation as a staff under LUPTO’s Culture and the Arts Unit.
