GREEN ME, SAFETY SEAL CERTIFICATION PROGRAM TRAINING ORIENTATION FOR TOURISM WORKFORCE

The Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) through the Provincial Public Employment Service Office (PESO) in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment – La Union Field Office (DOLE-LUFO) and the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board - Region I (RTWPB I) provided a training-orientation in the new normal on the Green Me & Safety Seal Certification Program to the 26 participants from the different hotels, resorts, restaurants, travel agencies and other stakeholders from the tourism sector in the province of La Union on December 1, 2021, via Zoom.

In his presentation, resource speaker from the Department of Labor & Employment – La Union Field Office (DOLE-LUFO) and Foreign National Labor Inspector, Engr. Rommel L. Austria, Foreign National Labor Inspector, gave an overview of the implementing guidelines, objective, scope and validity, eligibility, and certification process of implementing the Safety Seal Certification Program in business establishments. He emphasized that the Safety Seal Certification Program aims to ensure business establishments to be safe and compliant with the minimum public health standards. Furthermore, he told the participants that the Safety Seal Certification is voluntary and free of cost, and all safety seals shall be displayed conspicuously at all entry points.

In the second part of the training-orientation webinar, resource speaker, Ms. Virginia Imelda G. Salvador, Senior Labor & Employment Officer (SLEO) from the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board - Region I (RTWPB I), gave an overview of the programs & services of the RTWPB. Ms. Salvador discussed the Green My Enterprise in the New Normal as a simple practice of understanding green concepts with low cost of resources utilization while maintaining an eco-friendly approach in the workplace. Her presentation focused on green productivity concepts and benefits, tips in raising awareness about climate change, and how the application of eco-friendly strategies is key to improving the work environment while enhancing competitiveness.

RTWPB is an attached agency of DOLE mandated to prescribe minimum wage rates for all private enterprise workers in the region and promote productivity improvement programs.

This training orientation is an initiative of the Provincial Government of La Union through the Provincial PESO to provide tourism and tourism-related establishment workforce and stakeholders to become more aware of our partner agencies' programs and services advocating safety and green productivity making our workplace an Eco – friendly hub.
