DMMMSU TRABAHO CENTER LAUNCHED IN LA UNION

The institution of the Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU) together with the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) through the Provincial Public Employment Service Office (PESO) and the Department of Labor and Employment – La Union Field Office (DOLE-LUFO) forged a partnership in establishing a school-based Public Employment Service Office (PESO) named as the DMMMSU Trabaho Center. DMMMSU launched its Trabaho Center on December 2, 2021 via Zoom.
During the launching ceremony, Gov. Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” R. Ortega III, extended his warmest congratulations to the Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University for launching the Trabaho Center. In his message, he expressed gratitude to all participants saying, “Sa mga kalahok ng aktibidad ngayong araw, nawa’y magsilbi itong gabay ninyo sa pagharap ng hamon sa mga susunod na araw. Naniniwala akong kayo ay magiging kaagapay namin sa pagbangon mula sa mga epekto ng pandemya at sa pag-angat muli ng mas masiglang ekonomiya”. He congratulated the alumni and students of DMMMSU as they move forward to the right path of career growth and development in the new normal.
DMMMSU invited resource speakers from the Information & Communications Technology Unit of PGLU, Ms. Terosha J. Ballesteros, Information Systems Analyst I and discussed the overview and accessibility of the Find Jobs La Union Employment Portal maintained by PESO while Ms. Darbie Ann R. Fernandez, Labor & Employment Officer III of DOLE-LUFO presented the National Skills Registry Program (NSRP) and Employment – Facilitation Services and Programs of the DOLE. Dr. Bernardo D. Lamadrid, DMMMSU-MLUC Head of Students Affairs Services, also discussed the purpose of establishing a DMMMSU Trabaho Center in the campus and how it works.
The launching of the DMMMSU Trabaho Center was attended by 578 participants, and 15 employers from different companies in La Union and nearby provinces. The Trabaho Center aims to provide students and graduates from DMMMSU an avenue for them to look for local and overseas job opportunities and strengthen the graduate tracer program of the university. In the message of Dr. Jaime I Manuel, Jr., University President, DMMMSU, he mentioned, “These Special Career & Placement Project under the Office of Student Affair Services will greatly benefit our graduates and our current students in the development of their career path”.
The PGLU through PESO-La Union and DOLE-LUFO is looking forward to form a long-term partnership with DMMMSU in the delivery of employment facilitation programs for all the students, graduates and our kaprobinsiaan as we venture into our journey in the new normal of building a stronger La Union. The partnership between PGLU, DOLE and DMMMSU is another step of enhancing career services in terms of labor information, job placement and career guidance.
