The Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) officially opens celebration of the 172nd La Union Foundation Anniversary (LUFA) with the theme โLA UNION LA UNAY: Naggapu Iti Ayat, Gapu Iti Ayatโ through a ribbon cutting ceremony officially inaugurating the Heroes Park Stairway Mural Painting today, February 21, 2022 at the Heroes Park, Guerrero Road, City of San Fernando, La Union.
Graced by attending Sangguninang Panlalawigan board members, heads of offices led by Provincial Administrator Agnes Grace Cargamento, staff and project partners, the mural opening also celebrates the National Arts Month, as well as the 30th anniversary of PGLUโs mural project partner โ the United Architects of the Philippines (UAP) โ La Union Chapter.
La Union Provincial Tourism Office Officer-in-Charge Arthur S. Cortez, Jr. narrated that the mural piece features the artistic representations of bougainvillea, beach waves, bamboo, Bauang grapes, virginia tobacco leaves, mountain ranges, and abel-inspired sunrise to celebrate the flourishing Agri-Tourism industry and cultural heritage of La Union as a province. The piece is highlighted with the Baybayin of the word โbannuar,โ Iloko word for hero, befitting tribute for the monuments of nine local and national heroes in the park.
In a speech delivered by PA Cargamento, Gov. Francisco Emmanuel โPacoyโ R. Ortega III conveyed his gratitude for stakeholders attending the momentous event in celebration of the 172nd LUFA. Gov. Pacoy further congratulated the efforts of the people behind the success of another remarkable development for the art and tourism sector in La Union.
Chapter President Arch. Michael Juganas underscored UAP-La Unionโs commitment to serve the community and help preserve and promote the rich heritage including structures and sites. Arch. Juganas also acknowledged the active partnership of Davies Philippines Paints, including the architecture students and graduates of Saint Louis College of San Fernando, La Union.
The PGLU continues its commitment for culture and arts to flourish in the province that is truly #LaUnionLaUnay.
