In Celebration of the National Arts Month this February, the Provincial Government of La Union through the La Union Provincial Tourism Office in collaboration with Ciano Umok Cafรฉ Art Gallery launch Sirmata Art Festival 2022 at Brgy. Palugsi Limmansangan, Bauang on February 12, 2022.
The celebration sets to showcase and recognize various masterpieces of local artists in the Province of La Union as well as to foster creativity and love for art to all Kaprobinsiaan.
Local artists from different towns gather to celebrate and exhibit their creations that depict a deeper meaning on environment, timely issues on the upcoming election, pandemic crisis and daily living. This only proves that Art is alive even during pandemic that draws inspiration, passion and interest from the aspiring artists.
Board Member Christian Rivera, Reigning Mutia ti La Union 2020 Maria Divina Villanueva and Bauang Mayor Dr. Menchie De Guzman joined the celebration.
Local artist Cesar Dumo, the owner of Ciano Umok and organizer of the Art Fest, says that despite the limitations in conducting exhibits, they were still able to continue their art advocacy and their mission. He also looks forward in one of their goals to establish La Union as an Art Hub in the North. This possible progress will help develop skills of aspiring artists in the province as well as to widely introduce art in the communities.
The festival is open until April 15, 2022 featuring different activities which include art talk and workshop, live sketching, art merchandise, and art exhibit. Everyone is enjoined to participate and celebrate the festival to continue on polishing their talents especially the youth.
Sirmata which is an Iloko term for vision explains that artists envision possible developments within the community for the future through portraying their work of art.
The PGLU remains steadfast in providing full support to local artists in different aspects as they are truly valued for their valuable contribution in improving the lives of people and bringing change through their creative crafts.
