To honor and remember those who lost their lives in these ongoing crises, the Association of Tourism Industries and Networks in La Union (ATIN LU) in partnership with the Provincial Government of La Union, City Government of San Fernando, and Department of Tourism Region 1, kicks off its Pasko sa Batis sa Bakawan on December 11, 2021, in Barangay Carlatan, City of San Fernando, La Union as a part of the #PaskoSaKapitolyo2021 Celebration.

The kick-off featured the lighting of 473 floating lanterns, displaying 473 parols along the river and planting 473 bakawans or mangroves.

The hanged parols and kite lanterns stand as a symbol of remembrance for all departed loved ones. The event also highlights the resiliency of every Kaprobinsiaan and the spirit of Bayanihan amidst the CoViD-19 pandemic.

The CoViD-19 pandemic has caused a lot of pain, especially to those families who have lost their loved ones, but this Christmas is something that we look forward to, and it reminds us of the birth of Jesus Christ - which gives a renewed hope.

The celebration manifests that #WeAreLaUnion, and we shall continue to move forward in building a #StrongerLaUnion, a province worth living in.
