To give updates, recalibrate and ramp up the CoViD-19 Vaccination Operations across the different local government units (LGUs) in La Union, Gov. Francisco Emmanuel "Pacoy" R. Ortega III called for a Virtual Discussion Meeting with the League of Municipalities of the Philippines - La Union and City of San Fernando on October 28, 2021.
In attendance to the meeting were the local chief executives of the component LGUs, their Municipal Health Officers, and Vaccination Focal Persons.
Among the shared challenges of the participants were the need for vaccination team augmentation; high hesitancy for seniors, bed-ridden patients, upland residents and some religious sectors; vaccine brand preferences; and refusal to take second dose.
The different LGUs also shared their best practices in vaccination such as the setting of schedule of vaccination in the Barangays and high-density areas; giving of vaccination incentives; conducting a search for barangays with highest vaccination rate; and the encouragement of all 4Ps beneficiaries to get inoculated.
As an output of the discussion, proposed future action plans are to open additional vaccination centers in public places and populous areas; house to house vaccination especially for Senior Citizens; more aggressive marketing of vaccination to National Government Agency employees and workers of medium to large scale private establishment; and incorporating vaccination as activity of service delivery teams.
Given the complete cold chain of the province for all vaccine brands and its strategic storage, handling and administering, the continuous high allocation of vaccines in the province can be expected.
