The Province of La Union continues to increase protected kaprobinsiaan from severe effects of CoViD-19 as the pediatric vaccination among 12 to 17 years old started at the La Union Medical Center (LUMC), Agoo, La Union on November 2, 2021.
Given the sufficient vaccine supply, the Department of Health (DOH) now allows vaccination of the abovementioned age group provided that if they have comorbidities, they have to receive their vaccine in a hospital vaccination site while the rest of the pediatric population may receive their vaccination in their rural health units (RHUs).
As of the first day on November 2, a total of 247 individuals received their first dose from LUMC. As to date, the RHU of the Municipality of Bacnotan also started vaccination of the age group. Pediatric population from this age group may get in touch with their RHUs for the schedule of inoculation in their area while those with comorbidities may get in touch with the LUMC or Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center (ITRMC).
The ITRMC have started administering CoViD-19 vaccines to 12 to 17 years old on November 1, 2021 and continues to inoculate kaprobinsiaan from different local government units.
While the pediatric vaccination accepts walk-ins, parents are required to sign a consent form and accompany the vaccinees. In the absence of a parent, a guardian may accompany the vaccinee and will be strictly interviewed on behalf of the parent.
Pfizer and Moderna are the only vaccine brands with emergency use authorization for 12 to 17 years old issued by the Philippine Food and Drug Administration.
Together with all partner agencies and private entities, the Provincial Government of La Union continues to ramp up its vaccination efforts in the province with high hopes of a herd immunity by December 2021.
