La Union Recognizes Sampung Ulirang Nakakatanda ng La Union

As one of the highlights in celebration of the 2021 Elderly Filipino Week, the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) headed by Gov. Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” R. Ortega III through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) recognized the winners of the search for Sangapulo a Naisangsangayan a Nataengan ti Probinsia ti La Union on October 14, 2021 via Video Conference.

Recognized elderlies in La Union were Judge Joven F. Costales of Naguilian; SBM. Gabrielle A. Sotto of Bauang; Cecilia G. Reyes of Luna; Ma. Minda L. Fontanilla of Bacnotan; Teresita R. Rivera of Santo Tomas; Teresita O. Opeña of Santol; Natividad A. Pelaez of the City of San Fernando; Felicitas M. Macazo of Bangar; Ley M. Buquing of Sudipen; and Rogelio E. Tangalin of Agoo.

With the theme MahALAGA sina Lolo at Lola ngayong Pandemya, Gov. Pacoy spearheaded the recognition of the remarkable involvement and significance of elderlies to the society even during the present CoViD-19 crisis.

Two of the 10 Provincial Awardees, Mr. Sotto of Bauang and Ms. Reyes of Luna were also conferred as National Awardees in the 31st Sampung Ulirang Nakakatanda by the Coalition of Services of the Elderly.

The selection of the awardees was based on Significant Contribution/Impact of Projects (50%), Sustainability of service/Project (30%), and Innovativeness of Projects/Service (20%).

The activity was the First Awarding Ceremony held in Pursuant to Ordinance No. 178–2019 which was participated in online by 31 Senior Citizens and 123 viewers.
