In his presentation, Engr. Austria emphasized the need to ensure all workplaces to be healthy and safe and the assurance of the workers for their safety and health while they are in the workplace. “Mas happy at motivated pumasok ang empleyado ‘pag alam po nilang safe ang loob ng opisina,” he emphasized.

For his second topic, The Basic Right of Workers, Engr. Austria emphasized, “Dapat po ang estado, pinoprotektahan po ang manggagawa po nila, magkaroon po ng full employment, provide equal work opportunities, regardless kung lalaki man ito o babae, or nasa LGBTQ community.” He also discussed topics on labor standards, work days and work hours, meals and rest periods, regular holiday pay, payment wages, wage and wage-related benefits, and mandatory government benefits and contributions.

Another invited resource speaker, Information Officer II Dexter J. Dupagan of the Employees’ Compensation Commission – Regional Extension Unit I educated the participants on the Role of ECC, ECP Benefits, Recent Reform and Policies and ECC Beyond 2021. The learning session also tackled the compensability of disease including CoViD-19 and the benefits provided to people who were inflicted from work-related contingencies.

The PGLU continues to be committed in ensuring that government programs on employee welfare are widely disseminated in order to build a Stronger La Union, a province worth living in.
