PGLU -ENRO JOINS THE CANBARBUSUY NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL IN AN ENVIRONMENTAL COMMUNITY BASED -PROJECT

In its bid to promote a healthy environment and sustainable livelihood, the Provincial Government -Environment and Natural Resources Office (PG-ENRO) headed by EnP. Annalyn Rosario- Valdez, Officer In charge, joins in the conduct of community-based project initiated by the Department of Education (DepEd)- CANBARBUSUY National High School and Barangay Officials on July 10, 2021 at Cantoria No. 1, Luna, La Union.

In its bid to promote a healthy environment and sustainable livelihood, the Provincial Government of La Union through the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PG-ENRO) joins in the conduct of community-based-project initiated by the Department of Education (DepEd)- CANBARBUSUY (Cantoria No. 1, 2, 3, & 4, Barangubong, Busel-busel and Suyo) National High School and Barangay Officials on July 10, 2021 at Cantoria No. 1, Luna, La Union.

The activity aims to strengthen the collaboration between National Government Agencies, Local Government Unit and communities by way of distributing and planting of native fruit trees and agricultural crops. This is in support to the Governor’s Project TREE (Taking Responsibility for the ELYUs Environment) aligned to the Provincial Government of La Union’s #KalikasanNaman campaign on fostering ecological integrity and clean and healthy environment. The project also intends to sustain the livelihood of the community by maximizing the use of their land through planting of agricultural crops and fruit bearing trees.

To support the project, 740 assorted seedlings of native fruit trees from Pias Provincial Nursery composes of Tamarind, Pakak, Mabolo, Cashew, Duhat, Star Apple, Atis, Anonas, Chico, Avocado, Mango and Cheisa were provided by the Provincial Government of La Union through EnP. In addition, contributions from individuals made the purchase of 5 trays of germinated (540 pcs.) agricultural crops such as Eggplant and Finger Chili or Long Pepper and other logistics for the attainment of the project.

As an output, facilitators and teachers of CANBARBUSUY National High School led by Ms. Teresita Jaduca and Ms. Teresita Umanito with the support of Principal, Larievic Pajimola in partnership with CANBARBUSUY Barangays Officials, PG-ENRO and 250 household/community being the beneficiary, the distribution of the above-mentioned seedlings and agricultural crops assistance with a theme “ Alay ko, itanim at Payabungin mo” as well as tree planting at Barangay Busesl-busel held by teachers of CANBARBUSUY with a theme “Sa Puno, Hangin ay Presko! were done successfully. Health and safety protocols we strictly implemented during the program.
