INTENSIFYING THE ROLE OF LUCCAL IN PRESERVING AND PROMOTING CULTURAL HERITAGE OF LA UNION

As La Union Council for Culture, Arts, and Language (LUCCAL) Chairperson, Gov. Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” R. Ortega III administers the oath of office of the new set of Council Members and its Advisory Committee during the 2nd Quarter Council Meeting on June 8, 2021 via video conferencing.

The re-organized council is pursuant to the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Ordinance 294-2021 to further strengthen the culture, arts, heritage stakeholders’ involvement in conservation, promotion and development initiatives of the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU).

The discussions during the council meeting include the 2021 La Union Cultural Development Plan (LUCDP) and the First Quarter Culture and the Arts Accomplishment Report which were presented by La Union Provincial Tourism Office (LUPTO) Officer-in-Charge Arthur S. Cortez, Jr. and Senior Culture and Arts Officer Jeddahn P. Rosario, respectively.

The 2021 Second Quarter Program, Projects, and Activities (PPAs) of LUPTO’s Culture and Arts Section were also tackled. Gov. Pacoy recognized the council's great efforts in preserving and promoting the cultural heritage of the province in building a Stronger La Union.

The PGLU also pledged to continue working hand and hand with diverse stakeholders and sectors in appreciating and highlighting the importance of the province's cultural heritage.
