PROVINCIAL SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT BOARD TWG CONVENES

The Technical Working Group of the Provincial Solid Waste Management Board (PSWMB) convened on March 29, 2021 via videoconferencing to discuss and review the draft ordinance on the prohibition of single-use plastics in La Union and the proposed special waste management system in La Union.
Senior Environmental Management Specialist of the Provincial Government – Environment and Natural Resources Office (PG-ENRO) EnP. Shereal M. Catbagan, acting chairperson of the Technical Working Group (TWG) presided over the meeting.
Highlighted during the open forum are the strategies on monitoring the implementation of the said ordinance, provision of alternative environment-friendly materials, and appropriations for the project, programs, and activities covered in the ordinance. Also discussed during the meeting was the proposed plan of PG-ENRO to assist and improve the material recovery facilities in district and provincial hospitals.
Members present during the meeting were Provincial Engineer Ressie A. Estrella; Provincial General Services Officer Arvin C. Camacho; Provincial Information Officer Adamor Dagang;, President of the League of Local Planning and Development Coordinators of La Union Engr. Reynaldo Sibayan; Chairperson of the Committee on Environmental Protection, Human Ecology & Security & Energy, Board Member Abraham P. Rimando; representative from DENR-PENRO, Ms. Filipina Atabay; representative from DENR-EMB, Mr. Junero Estolas; representative from Provincial Health Officer Engr. Candy C. Miguel; and representative from Provincial Planning and Development Office Mr. David Rabelas.
