CoViD-19 Vaccines Arrive in La Union; Medical Frontliners in Tertiary CoViD-19 Referral Hospitals to Receive First Dose
Continuing the united fight in the Province of La Union against the CoViD-19 pandemic, it is set to receive the first batch of Sinovac CoViD-19 Vaccines comprising of 4,106 doses for 2,053 individuals as part of the 14,400 delivered vaccines for the whole Region 1 today, March 4, 2021.
The vaccines are currently stored at the Department of Health - Center for Health Development 1 (DOH-CHD1) ready for turning over tentatively by tomorrow, March 5, 2021 to the two tertiary CoViD-19 referral hospitals in the province including Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center for 1,647 individuals and La Union Medical Center (LUMC) for 406 individuals.
The DOH-CHD1 is now coordinating with said hospitals for the turning over of the vaccines with the assistance of the Office of the Civil Defense, Philippine Coast Guard and Philippine National Police.
In the Regional Vaccination Operation Center Press Conference today, DOH Region 1 Director Dr. Valeriano Jesus Lopez expressed hope with the arrival of the first batch of vaccine as he emphasized the importance of continuous observation of minimum health standards.
The first batch of vaccines are estimated to be administered within seven days and it was clarified that the vaccination is not mandatory. Cold Chain Facilities are also being checked to ensure the safety of the vaccines which will be administered with 28 days interval per dose.
Following the vaccine prioritization of the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) on Emerging Infectious Diseases, the first batch of vaccines is allocated for medical frontliners where for Region 1, first to receive it will be tertiary CoViD-19 Referral Hospitals. There are around 28,000 total health care workers from all hospitals and treatment and rehabilitation centers in the Region who are also part of the priority list.
The #BakunaMuna CoViD-19 Vaccination Program of the province is preparing to kickstart with the vaccination of medical frontliners from the LUMC.
