CDH CONDUCTS 5S, RESTORATION OF MICROGARDEN

CDH CLEAN UP DRIVE. Caba District Hospital (CDH) staff strengthens the implementation of 5S of the hospital during the conduct of 5S and restoration of the Microgarden on February 5, 2021 at CDH, Caba, La Union. The 5S methodology helps a workplace remove items that are no longer needed (sort); organize the items to optimize efficiency and flow (straighten); clean the area to easily identify problems (sweep); implement color coding and labels to stay consistent with other areas (standardize); and develop behaviors that keep the workplace organized long term (sustain). Clean Up Drive is a monthly activity of the hospital as part of the Environmental Preservation and Protection Program of the hospital.

RESTORATION OF MICROGARDEN. As part of the Environmental Protection and Preservation Program of Caba District Hospital (CDH), hospital personnel work together to restore the Micro-garden located at the roof deck of the hospital building during the conduct of 5S and restoration of the Microgarden on February 5, 2021 at CDH, Caba, La Union. The harvested vegetables will be donated to the dietary section to augment the high cost of vegetables in the market for use of patients and personnel consumption as well. The said activity aims to promote La Union as the Heart of Agri-tourism in Northern Luzon, provide pleasant nature views for patient that can help reduce stress and improve clinical outcomes and reduce hospital wastes by continuous implementation of 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle).

As part of the Caba District Hospital (CDH) Environmental Preservation and Protection Program, the hospital strengthened the implementation 5S and the restoration of the Microgarden during the clean up drive around the hospital on February 5, 2021 at CDH, Caba, La Union.

Staff joined forces in cleaning the hospital vicinity and microgarden, improving the material recovery facility and conducted of 5S (Sort, Straighten, Sweep, Standardize and Sustain) in their respective unit or section.

5S are words that describe the steps of a workplace organization process. In simple terms, the 5S methodology help a workplace remove items that are no longer needed (sort); organize the items to optimize efficiency and flow (straighten); clean the area in order to more easily identify problems (sweep); implement color coding and labels to stay consistent with other areas (standardize); and develop behaviors that keep the workplace organized long term (sustain).

The said activity aims to promote La Union as the Heart of Agri-tourism in Northern Luzon; provide pleasant natural views for patients that can help reduce stress and improve clinical outcomes; reduce hospital wastes by continuous implementation of 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle) and to augment the high cost of vegetables in the market.

Clean Up Drive is a monthly activity of the hospital which is scheduled every first Friday of the month.
