PESO-La Union Revisits Bacnotan Employment Status of Tourism Workforce

The La Union Public Employment Service Office (PESO) together with the Municipal PESO of Bacnotan, La Union headed by PESO Manager Ms. Divina C. Fontanilla, initiated the updating of employment conditions of workers in the various tourism-related establishments in the Municipality of Bacnotan, La Union. Labor and Employment Officer II, Rowell B. Timoteo of the Provincial PESO together with PESO-Bacnotan Staff Mr. Eljohn Floria visited 17 tourism-related establishments and collected information from tourism-related establishments about their existing manpower and operational status on December 4, 2020 at the Municipality of Bacnotan, La Union.
With the data gathered from the activity, PESO-La Union in partnership with the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board Regional Office I (RTWPB-RO I) pushes a facilitation of webinar on Service Quality and Green Productivity conducted on December 21, 2020 as part of the capacitation and reskilling of employees of visited tourism-related establishments in Bacnotan, La Union. Service Quality and Green Productivity program will educate employees of tourism-related establishments on the culture of productivity, quality and eco-friendly service practices at the workplace.
Provincial Government of La Union through the PESO in partnership with the Municipal PESOs and Tourism Offices will continue to conduct monitoring of employment condition of workers in the different tourism-related establishments operating in the 19 municipalities and one city in the Province of La Union to establish an assessment concerning the impact of CoViD-19 on the workforce of tourism industry and the introduction of assistance related to employment for mitigating impacts and facilitate strong and fast recovery procedures for the tourism industry of the province.
