LA UNION STILL UNDER MODIFIED GENERAL COMMUNITY QUARANTINE WITH STRICT LOCAL ACTION UNTIL JULY 31, 2020 AS PER IATF-MEID RESOLUTION NO. 55-A
As the Province was placed under Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ) with strict local action until July 31, 2020 by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-MEID) by virtue of Resolution No. 55-A, we recorded a spike in the number of confirmed CoViD-19 cases in La Union. Of the seven municipalities with active cases, the Municipality of Caba is categorized as a Critical Zone as it recorded clustered cases, with 7 out of 17, or 41%, of its barangays affected.
In this regard, Governor Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” R. Ortega III, in agreement with Mayor Philip Caesar P. Crispino has REQUESTED and is WAITING FOR THE APPROVAL of the Regional Inter-Agency Task Force for COVID-19 (RIATF) for the MUNICIPALITY OF CABA, LA UNION to be placed under ENHANCED COMMUNITY QUARANTINE (ECQ) effective immediately until midnight of JULY 25, 2020 to temporarily control movement, facilitate contact tracing, and prevent the further spread of the virus.
While waiting for the decision of the RIATF, the Municipal Government of Caba and all the other component LGUs in La Union were advised to make certain that their Emergency Operation Centers (EOCs) are activated, ensure stricter enforcement of the established protocols, especially the minimum health standards and perimeter/ border restrictions, and prepare to fulfill the needs of the citizens given the possibility of heightened community quarantine, among others.
In support to this, we encourage the full cooperation of each and every citizen because we can only emerge victorious if we unify our efforts and set our actions towards one goal – combatting the virus.
