La Union I-BUILD Sub-Project Awarded

Sangguniang Panlalawigan Board Member Francisco Paolo P. Ortega V, Provincial Engineer Ressie A. Estrella and Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator Michaela Louise T. Delfinado presents the Most Outstanding I-BUILD Implementation Award to Gov. Pacoy on February 3, 2020 at the Office of the Provincial Governor, Provincial Capitol, City of San Fernando, La Union. Said award was conferred to the Provincial Government of La Union by the Department of Agriculture during the Philippine Rural Agriculture Awarding Ceremony on January 30, 2020 held at Angeles City, Pampanga.
Among the four regions shortlisted as finalists for the Search for the Most Outstanding I-BUILD Implementation in terms of Operations and Maintenance (O&M) for Completed Farm-to-Market Roads (FMRs) in North Luzon Cluster for CY 2019, Region I, which was represented by the Province of La Union was chosen as the victor during the Philippine Rural Development Program (PRDP) Awarding Ceremony in Angeles City, Pampanga on January 30, 2020.
The award was conferred by the PRDP National Project Coordination Office (NPCO) of the Department of Agriculture (DA). Prior to this, La Union was the sole competitor in Region I for its Balecbec-Basca FMR in Naguilian and Aringay, La Union which was the first completed sub-project already under the O&M stage.
The Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU), in partnership with DA-PRDP and World Bank, inaugurated the sub-project on November 15, 2019.
Similar to the Balecbec-Basca FMR, other FMR sub-projects in different regions under North Luzon Cluster were also chosen as competitors to the search such as Cagayan Valley (Region II) represented by Aglipay, Quirino; Central Luzon (Region III) represented by the Province of Tarlac; and Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) represented by the Province of Kalinga.
The projects were judged based on Fund Allocation; Organization of the O&M; Functionality of the O&M Group; Implementation of O&M Activity; and Documentation.
This recognition is a manifestation that the PGLU continues its mission to be the catalyst of sustainable and inclusive development that improves the quality of life of the people.
