In celebration of the National Bible Month, officers of the La Union Day Care Workers Association (LUDCWA) shared God’s Word – the Bible, with Gov. Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” R. Ortega III during their courtesy call on January 24, 2020, Diego Silang Hall, Provincial Capitol, City of San Fernando, La Union.

In his sharing, Gov. Pacoy emphasized that once we started connecting with God, our faith deepens. “Transformation is done within an individual before transformation in an organization happens; it is winning of hearts and minds, all for the Glory of God,” he added.

He further said that before an activity in the Provincial Government of La Union, is a praise and worship, prayer and some preaching. The PGLU also encourages LGUs to have Bible reading and engagement during their flag-raising ceremony the whole month of January.

President Rodrigo Duterte issued Presidential Proclamation No.124 in 2017 declaring January of every year as National Bible Month in recognition of the religious nature of the Filipino people and the elevating influence of religion in human society. An excerpt from proclamation states that, “it is fitting and proper, for the molding of spiritual, moral and social fiber of our citizenry, that national attention be focused on the importance of reading and studying the Bible.

This year, the National Bible Month’s theme is “#2020 Vision: The Bible Transforms and Unites the Nation.” This is to further intensify initiatives in making the Bible known to transform and unite countrymen, no matter what area, region, or zone.
