LU TOURISM STAKEHOLDERS RECOGNIZED

On behalf of Gov. Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” R. Ortega III, Provincial Information Officer Adamor L. Dagang expresses the province’s appreciation of the support of La Union tourism stakeholders to the tourism program and projects of the provincial government and in helping carry out the vision of the province to become the Heart of Agri-Tourism in Northern Luzon by 2025 during the Appreciation Night for Tourism Stakeholders as part of the La Union Tourism Summit 2019 held on September 24, 2019 at the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Convention Hall, City of San Fernando, La Union.
In recognition of their service excellence and innovations, the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) headed by Gov. Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” R. Ortega III gave recognition to La Union stakeholders during the Grand Ball for Tourism Stakeholders as part of the La Union Tourism Summit 2019 held on September 24, 2019 at the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Convention Hall, City of San Fernando, La Union.
Anchored on the United Nation’s World Tourism Day 2019 theme “Tourism and Jobs: A Better Future for All,” the initiative was conceptualized to recognize tourism businesses and stakeholders who made significant contributions in support to the Agri-Tourism strategy and to the development of the province’s tourism industry as a whole. The awards’ criteria included the quality of service, accreditation, feedback, innovative aspects and other contributions to the sector.
On behalf of Gov. Pacoy, Provincial Information Officer Adamor L. Dagang said that the province appreciates the stakeholder’s efforts and support to the tourism program and projects of PGLU and helping carry out the vision of the province. He added that PGLU is doing its best to preserve, develop and promote the tourism destinations, culture, and products of the province.
Department of Tourism – Region 1 Director Martin S. Valera praised the initiative of PGLU to ensure that stakeholders from the tourism industry are recognized and awarded. “Let us all strive and help one another for the protection and sustainability of the tourism industry for the future generations and tourists to enjoy and experience,” he said.
The awardees were hailed as the “primary movers” of the programs and projects that aim to strengthen tourism as one of the major economic drivers of the province.
Awards given were Outstanding Local Government Unit (LGU) Implementer of Tourism Development Planning Initiatives Award to the Municipal Governments of Aringay, Pugo, and Santo Tomas; Outstanding LGU Implementer of Tourism Statistics Reporting Award to Municipal Governments of Bauang, Agoo and Naguilian; and Accredited Entities for Three Consecutive Years Award for selected Hotels, Resort, Mabuhay Accommodations, Restaurants, Farm Sites, Travel and Tour Agencies, Tourist Land Transport Operators and Tour Guides.
