OPVet Aims Disease-free Animals in La Union

Veterinarian IV Dr. Pepito G. Estrada of the Office of the Provincial Veterinarian conducts a farm inspection at Casem Farm at Brgy. Tallaoen, Luna, La Union on July 10, 2019. The farm was inspected before the shipment of 51,895 broiler chickens and for the issuance of shipping documents which includes the Veterinary Health Certificate and Veterinary Shipping Permit.

To ensure that the animals are fit for human consumption and free from diseases especially from Avian Influenza (AI) and Newcastle Disease (ND), the Provincial Government of La Union through the Office of the Provincial Veterinarian (OPVet), headed by Dr. Nida N. Gapuz, conducted a farm visitation and inspection at Casem Farm at Brgy. Tallaoen, Luna, La Union on July 10, 2019.

AI is the infection of birds which occur naturally among wild aquatic birds and can infect domestic poultry and other bird species while ND is also an infection of domestic poultry and other bird species. The two are the two diseases that can greatly affect the health of avian and the status of avian trade industry.

The same inspection was also conducted at to the 33,000 heads broilers of Halca Broiler Farm at Brgy. Juan Cartas, Caba, La Union on July 5, 2019.
