AHD activities were conducted to educate the youth about being responsible on their sexual and reproductive health, empower them to make right choices, and develop them to become advocates to their fellow youth.

A total of 411 Grade 10 learners were educated and informed on their sexual and reproductive health to encourage them to postpone sexual activities that leads to early pregnancy, unplanned and forced marriage and to protect them against the risk of Sexually Transmitted Infections.

Information Officer II Ms. Maria Cristina F. Martinez of Commission on Population and Development served as the learning service provider during the symposium. She talked about the Risk, Threats and Challenges of the youth today and updates on the number of teens getting pregnant at an early age. She also emphasized that HIV cases among 15-24 years old are increasing due to lack of information about sex and due to high prevalence of youth who are watching x-rated movies/videos.

The Municipality of Burgos, La Union has the highest incidence of Adolescent Birth Rate as of March 2019 according to Commission on Population and Development Regional Office I that is why the PPO continually makes sure that the program reaches schools in all municipalities to respond to the needs of every youth in La Union.
