INDEPENDENCE DAY JOBS FAIR CONDUCTED

Nine jobseekers who were hired on the spot in the Kalayaan Job and Business Fair pose with interviewer CreditAccess Philippines Financing Company Inc. on June 12, 2019 at Union Christian College Covered Court, Barangay II, City of San Fernando, La Union.
The Provincial Government of La Union and City Government of San Fernando through their respective Public Employment Service Offices in collaboration with the Department of Labor & Employment (DOLE) Region I hosted the Kalayan Job and Business Fair with a theme, “Kalayaan 2019, Tapang ng Bayan, Malasakit sa Mamamayan” held on June 12, 2019 at Union Christian College Covered Court, Barangay II, City of San Fernando, La Union. Said activity was done as part of the 121st Philippine Independence Day Celebration.
In La Union, 23 participating employers (19 local, 4 overseas) offered 2,678 job vacancies for both local and overseas employment to jobseekers. Job vacancies for local jobs included call center agents, production machine operator, customer service representatives, technical support, sales clerks, cashiers, service crew, office staff and merchandisers while for overseas employment, job vacancies available were nurses, teachers, service crew, drivers, technicians, factory workers and skilled workers. A total of 46 or 11.44% from the 403 jobseekers registered were hired on the spot.
Several National Government Agencies provided pre-employment services to jobseekers during the job fair were the Department of Trade & Industry, Social Security System, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, Pag-Ibig Fund, Philippine Overseas Employment Administration, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority.
