CDH SENIOR CITIZEN HOME VISIT OUTREACH BENEFITS 8 ELDERLIES

QUIT SMOKING. Caba District Hospital (CDH) Social Welfare Officer Mary Ann O. Halog assists 93 years old Leonida Manongdo in signing the “Quit Smoking Contract” during the Senior Citizen Home Visit Outreach Program on July 12, 2019 at Barangay San Cornelio, Caba, La Union. During the said activity, CDH’s Smoking Cessation Program was introduced to the elderly which was followed by counseling and signing of smoking cessation contract.
As part of Caba District Hospital (CDH) Senior Citizen Program and hospital brand focused on Care of the Elderly, CDH conducted a Home Visit Community Outreach Program at Barangays San Gregorio and San Cornelio, Caba, La Union on July 12, 2019.
With the assistance of the Senior Citizen presidents of said barangays, there were two elderlies consulted at San Gregorio Health Station and six elderlies visited in their homes. Free medical check-up was conducted and free medicines, information education and communication materials, gifts were distributed.
Nutritionist Dietitian Vladimir Piñon counseled the elderlies regarding “Pinggang Pinoy” and nutrition plan for elderlies while Program Coordinator. Nurse Geraldine T. Posadas introduced the hospital’s smoking cessation program to the elderlies. From the eight elderlies visited, five of them were smokers and the oldest was Leonida Manongdo who is 93 years old.
Hospital Chief Dr. Gretchen F. Aromin assessed the elderlies to identify their ailments, health needs and corresponding plan of care. Family members were also advised and involved in the plan of care.
Lola Leonida commended the activity and expressed her gratitude saying, “Agyamannak kanyayo nga immay ditoy balaymi, nagdakkel a tulong daytoy iyuumayyo ditoy ta awan met pigsamin a magna mapan ospital ta babbaket kami metten.”
Home Visit Community Outreach Program is a monthly activity of CDH to reach out to the elderlies as a way of giving back to the community, true to CDH’s hospital brand “Service with Compassion” and achieve the Provincial Government of La Union’s (PGLU’s) vision for a Happy La Union and Healthy La Union by 2022.
