PGLU CONDUCTS MOTHERS’ CLASS

Community Affairs Officer II Ms. Arlene Tadina from the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist demonstrates to the participants the process of making siomai on June 26, 2019 in Bangar, La Union during “Mothers’ Class” as a gainful livelihood project which they can adopt to augment their income.

The Provincial Government of La Union through the Provincial Population Office conducted a “Mothers’ Class” for women of reproductive age at Bangar, La Union on June 25-27, 2019.

This 3-day seminar/workshop aims to provide information and skills to women specifically on Responsible Parenthood and Home Management; Myths and Misconceptions on the Modern Family Planning Methods; Advantages of Family Planning; Fertility Awareness and Human Sexuality; Maternal and Child Health; Sexually Transmitted Diseases; Basic Facts on Teenage Pregnancy; Nutrition Education; and information on Republic Act 9262 also known as the Violence Against Women and their Children Act.

The mothers and mothers-to-be were taught gainful livelihood projects which they can adopt to augment their income. Outputs such as siomai, bangus, tocino, and dishwashing liquid soap were produced during the training. The workshop outputs were specifically chosen as they are in line with the Agri-Tourism thrust of the province.

Ms. Arlene Tadina, Community Affairs Officer II, from the Office of the Provincial Agriculture demonstrated the process of making siomai to the 33 participants. Through this program, mothers were capacitated to strive for a good time, good education and a better future with her children.

The Mothers’ Class was also conducted in the Municipalities of Bauang on June 10-13 and Sto. Tomas on June 18-20, 2019.
