Poro Point Light House

General Description: The Light House which is located in Poro Point has been the site of navigational aid since 1885. The first light house built during the Spanish Colonial period is a cylindrical steel tower that was fabricated in France and was completed in November 28, 1885. On July 28, 1903, the U.S. gained control of the Philippines from Spain and a percentage of the land surrounding the light house has been converted into a US reservation through EO #06 signed by Gov. William H. Taft. Then in November 2003, the site became Camp Wallace and eventually, the Wallace Air Station. In September 1991, the U.S. facility was turned over to the Philippine Government and became the headquarters of the Philippine Navy

General Description: This is a one-hectare Taoist temple dedicated to the sea goddess “Mazu.” It was built in 1975 and is located on a hill, 70 feet above sea level facing the West Philippine Sea. It was intended for Mazuists, Catholics, and Taoists praying for change of luck from Mazu or Ma-Cho whose eight-inch wooden image surprisingly has a counterpart in the Roman Catholic Faith known as the “Virgin of Kasaysay” who is enshrined at the Basilica of Saint Martin in Taal, Batangas. Popular Activities include Praying, festival, exchange of Matzu and Virgin of Kasaysay, Chinese cultural presentations.
