To develop a more integrated tourism industry and contribute to the sustainable socio-economic growth in the region, the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) headed by Gov. Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” R. Ortega III will be participating to the first-ever Tourism Summit Philippines 2019 on May 2, 2019 at the World Trade Center, Pasay City.
The Tourism Summit 2019 will be the first Tourism Summit to be presented by the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Business Advisory Council Philippines in partnership with the Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship (Go Negosyo). It will be a platform for discussion and reflection on what the ASEAN countries have done to improve the development of sustainable island tourism.
The summit will address the importance of the tourism industry in empowering Filipino micro, small and medium entrepreneurs (MSMEs) as well as narrowing the gap among ASEAN countries in achieving sustainable socio-economic growth in the ASEAN region. It will also highlight the future of tourism in ASEAN, the need for sustainable tourism, and technological innovations in the tourist and travel industry.
As the biggest tourism event of the year, around 10,000 attendees are expected to attend from the tourism sector, MSMEs, aspiring young entrepreneurs, and academe. Participants will learn key trends and industry updates from the experts, as well as have the opportunity to network with leaders, business owners, and senior executives of public and private enterprises involved in tourism and its supporting activities.
The La Union delegation led by Gov. Pacoy will be composed of representatives from the Provincial Information Office – Tourism Operations Unit and Office of the Governor – Local Economic Enterprise and Investment Promotions Unit.
