PGLU Defends SGLG 2019 Bet

The Provincial Government of La Union defended its bet to secure its fourth consecutive Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) during the SGLG 2019 Regional Validation at the Diego Silang Hall, Provincial Capitol, City of San Fernando, La Union on May 3, 2019.
The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Regional Assessment Team conducted site validation and photo documentation around the Provincial Capitol and the District Hospitals. Among the evaluated facets of the PGLU were Financial Administration; Disaster Preparedness; Social Protection; and Tourism, Culture and the Arts.
Document review and interview were also conducted. For Financial Administration, they evaluated the Full Disclosure Policy Postings of PGLU. For Disaster Preparedness, they checked Early Warning Systems, Evacuation Centers, Emergency Response Team Equipment, Stock Piled Goods, and the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Operation Center. For Social Protection, they assessed the accessibility of the entrance and exit; and the Persons with Disability toilet of the capitol building and hospitals. For Tourism, Culture and the Arts, they checked the Tourism Assistance Center; Tourism Data Base; and Published Narrative of History and Culture.
Gov. Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” R. Ortega III, who presented the PGLU SGLG documents said, “This administration is anchored on what we call Transformative Governance…to deliver a brand of public service and careers that are deeply rooted in transforming leaders into agents of change to make a positive impact to the lives of our fellow citizens.”
DILG OIC-Assistant Regional Director Agnes A. De Leon praised the harmonious working relationship of the PGLU and DILG La Union as manifested by the interventions of both parties in each other’s programs, projects and activities. She also highlighted that La Union is ‘going green,’ manifesting great results in the assessment.
“Since I was elected as governor, La Union is a recipient of the SGLG for three consecutive years…it is my dream that one day, all LGUs together with the PGLU will receive the SGLG,” said Gov. Pacoy indicating that PGLU is strongly committed in ensuring good governance in the whole province.
