CDH PROMOTES FIRE, QUAKE SAFETY

DROP, COVER AND HOLD. Caba District Hospital (CDH) staff, patients, watchers and by standers did the Drop, Cover and Hold during the Fire and Earthquake Drill on March 26, 2019 at CDH, Poblacion Sur, Caba, La Union. Fire and Earthquake Drills are annual activities of CDH aimed to update knowledge and enhance skills of the employees regarding preparedness, prevention and response during fire and earthquake scenarios.
In observance of the Fire Prevention Month, Caba District Hospital (CDH) in collaboration with Bauang Fire Station conducted a Fire and Earthquake Lecture and Drill for hospital staff, patients and watchers on March 26, 2019 at CDH Conference Hall, Poblacion Sur, Caba, La Union.
Fire Officer (FO) 2 Robertson A. Subala and FO 3 Jan Chris V. Gajete discussed various topics such as fire safety tips, fire prevention plan, emergency exits and routes, alarm system, procedure on how to stop fire, proper usage of fire extinguisher, fire prevention, and earthquake response procedures. They also assessed the hospital compliance in fire and earthquake safety measures.
During the lecture, FO 2 Subala stressed that fire and earthquake drills are important requirements to prepare and educate staff in the event of fire and earthquake. He also explained the six steps to safety which is S-ound the alarm, A-dvice the fire brigade/station, F-ight the fire, E-vacuate, T-ell others and Y-ou get clear (S.A.F.E.T.Y).
The Fire officers also demonstrated the proper usage of fire extinguisher and the proper way on how to do the “Drop, Cover and Hold”.
Fire and Earthquake Drill is an annual activity of CDH which aims to update knowledge and enhance skills of the employees regarding preparedness, prevention and response during fire and earthquake scenarios.
