PGLU Information and Communication Technology Upgraded

The Information and Communications Technology Unit (ICTU), headed by Mr. Gerry D. Binas-o, takes the lead in the ICT Upgrade for the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) offices and five District Hospitals of La Union on March 11-19, 2019 at the Provincial Capitol, City of San Fernando, La Union. The PGLU acquired 66 desktop computers, six projectors, eight laptops and 27 ink-based printers.

The Information and Communication Technology Unit (ICTU) is mandated to provide a responsive and accountable ICT Services to improve the operations of the Provincial Government processes. While the Province-wide Wireless Mesh High Speed Local Network installation that will interlink the 20 Local Government Units of the province is ongoing, the ICTU also upgrades the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) by improving its ICT assets to increase productivity and services.

As a part of the project, the ICTU distributed a total of three projectors, three High LUMENS projectors, 66 Standard User Desktops, two Power User Desktops, eight laptops, and 27 ink-based printers to be utilized by the 30 departments and units of PGLU.

In addition, five tower servers, 44 desktop computers, 15 ink-based printers, 15 dot matrix printers, five document scanners with feeder and five flatbed scanners will be utilized by the five district hospitals in preparation for their Integrated Hospital Operations Management Information System (iHOMIS) as part of their qualification to PhilHealth and Department of Health (DOH) requirements.

The upgrade is part of the PGLU Wide Area Network Support Project. Through this project, PGLU will be able to increase its productivity and improve its working protocol not only because applications and programs will load faster, but also because it will ensure one is to one computer user ratio.
