TOURI-ZOMBIE RUN. A total of 227 runners took part in the Touri-Zombie Fun Run, a fund-raising activity by the La Union Alliance of Travel and Tour Agencies (LUATTA) on November 3, 2018. The runners braved the route from Se-Bay Surf Central Resort, Urbiztondo, San Juan, to the San Fernando City Plaza as “zombies” tried to snatch the runners’ hearts. The first major activity of the LUATTA, the Touri-zombie Run was co-presented by the Provincial Government of La Union.
Runners from all over the Province of La Union have gathered for an exciting fun run which featured probably the scariest road obstacles – zombies!
A total of 227 runners participated in the Touri-Zombie Fun Run 2018, a fund-raising activity by the La Union Alliance of Travel and Tour Agencies (LUATTA) on November 3, 2018.
For only P500 registration fee, the runners received race bibs, shirt, snack, water, and the thrilling experience of being chased by “zombies.”
Tourism students dressed up as “zombies” and, in full character, scared the wits out of the runners and gave them the most thrilling run of their lives.
The runners, in turn, braved the five-kilometer route from Se-Bay Surf Central Resort, Urbiztondo, San Juan, to the San Fernando City Plaza, as they struggled to protect their “hearts” from the hungry zombies.
The zombies tried to snatch the runners’ hearts out, to prevent them from finishing the race. But in the end, most runners made it to the finish line, and the first three finishers won medals and cash prize.
The runners then gathered at the SFC Plaza for a zumba with the “zombies.” The LUATTA also gave away raffle prizes, such as Palawan tour package, overnight stay at Thunderbird Resorts and Ranch EZ Hotel, and gift certificates.
LUATTA Pres. Robert Ranchez expressed his thanks to the participants to the group’s first major fund-raising activity. “We are happy that many took interest in our event which aimed to raise funds for the LUATTA’s community-based sustainable tourism initiatives,” Ranchez said.
The activity, which was co-presented by the Provincial Government of La Union, was LUATTA’s contribution in re-invigorating the tourism industry players in the province, as part of the vision to make the La Union as the “Heart of Agri-Tourism in Northern Luzon by 2025.”
