Centenarian Patient Receives Alagang BDH Award

Governor Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” R. Ortega III pays tribute to one of the awardees of the “Alagang BDH,” Mrs. Lucena Badua of Brgy. Galongen, Bacnotan who will be celebrating her 100th birthday on October 28. Bacnotan District Hospital recognizes the patronage of clients of its hospital services by giving “Alagang BDH Award” during its 43rd Foundation Anniversary celebration on September 24, 2018.
In celebration of its 43rd Foundation Anniversary on September 24, 2018, Bacnotan District Hospital (BDH), headed by Dr. Zenserly D. Pagaduan, recognized the patronage of clients to its services by giving “Alagang BDH Award” to five loyal patients. One of them is Mrs. Lucena Badua who will be celebrating her 100th birthday on October 28.
Mrs. Badua and her family who hails from Brgy. Galongen, Bacnotan, are regular clients of the hospital since 1987. At her age, she is still lively and can do basic chores by herself. Her memory also remains sharp and reliable.
The hospital has been giving “Alagang BDH Award” since 2015. The other awardees from Bacnotan were Mrs. Filomena Cargamento of Brgy. Cabaroan, Mrs. Celedonia Bucsit of Brgy. Poblacion, Miss Neferthea Quinquito of Brgy. Baroro, and Mr. Ernesto Cabansag of Brgy. Salincob. Miss Quinquito, said during her testimonial that the medical advice of one of her physicians and care of BDH personnel gave her strength and inspiration to persevere in school despite having frequent asthma attacks.
BDH and Hemotek also recognized the patronage of clients in the hemodialysis service by giving “Alagang Hemotek Award” to three patients.
BDH Chief, Dr. Pagaduan presented the annual hospital accomplishments and strategic projects aligned to the governor’s vision during her welcome remarks. Specifically, she mentioned the two strategic projects of BDH entitled, “Provision of First Aid and Basic Life Support (BLS) Training to residents of the Central Agri-Tourism Circuit” held at Bgry. Quirino, Bacnotan surfing area on July 30 – 31, 2018; and, “Education and Advocacy on Sexually-Transmitted Infections (STIs) and HIV Transmission Prevention among Locals, Tourism Workers, and Tourists in the Central Agri-Tourism Circuit; and Provision of HIV Counseling and Testing Services to Interested Individuals/Groups/Organizations/Institutions” held at the La Union Police Provincial Office (LUPPO), Camp Diego Silang, Lingsat, City of San Fernando among police personnel on July 13 and 27, 2018.
Governor Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” R. Ortega III served as the Guest of Honor and Speaker of the celebration. He led the inauguration of the newly renovated Operating Room and Delivery Room Complex of BDH. In his speech, Gov. Pacoy said , “The BDH has been the undisputed leader in the delivery of public health care in the province, and has been an outstanding example of commitment and dedication of the medical profession and practitioners in La Union as manifested in their accomplishments.
Hon. Manuel Victor “Mannix” R. Ortega Jr., also graced the occasion and showed his support to the endeavours of the hospital. Local government officials of the Municipality of Bacnotan led by Mayor Francisco Angelito L. Fontanilla and Vice-Mayor Ma. Minda L. Fontanilla also attended the event.
