Governor Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” R. Ortega III, assisted by Bacnotan District Hospital (BDH) Chief Dr. Zenserly D. Pagaduan, choose the best photo shot in La Union, during the 43rd Foundation Anniversary celebration of BDH on September 24, 2018. The photos are contributions of hospital employees, their friends and colleagues in the medical field, noteworthy of them are Dr. Nelson Gundran and Dr. Reynald Estandian. “In our hospital, we promote a holistic approach of healing. We do not just treat our patients physically but also make an effort to relieve them psychologically. One of the means to achieve this is to inspire our patients by looking at meaningful photos hanged on the walls of their rooms while they are admitted with the purpose of somehow alleviating their feelings,” said Dr. Pagaduan.
As part of its celebration of their 43rd Foundation Anniversary, the Bacnotan District Hospital (BDH) launched the photo and art gallery at the hospital premises on September 24, 2018. The hospital also launched its hospital hymn, which embodies the vision, mission, purpose and core values of the hospital.
“In our hospital, we promote a holistic approach of healing. We do not just treat our patients physically but also make an effort to relieve them psychologically through arts and music,” said BDH Chief, Dr. Zenserly D. Pagaduan. “One of the means to achieve this is to inspire our patients by looking at meaningful photos and artworks hanged on the walls of their rooms,” she added.
The artworks were the winning entries of the students during the hospital’s art contest which aimed to promote smoking cessation and proper care of the kidneys. The photos, meanwhile, were contributions of hospital employees, their friends and colleagues in the medical field, such as Dr. Nelson Gundran and Dr. Reynald Estandian.
Gov. Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” R. Ortega III served as the Guest of Honor and Speaker, who also picked the best photo in the gallery. Also present in the launching were Bacnotan Mayor Francisco Angelito L. Fontanilla, Vice-Mayor Ma. Minda L. Fontanilla, and former Board Member Hon. Manuel Victor “Mannix” R. Ortega Jr.
The hospital also launched its hospital hymn, titled “Service with a Smile.” Marking a milestone in the history of the hospital, the hymn was composed of BDH personnel, Mr. Merben C. Alminiana. It was performed by the personnel during the celebration and was led by the BDH Band, composed of the hospital’s nurses and administrative clerks.
BDH is the first-ever hospital in La Union to have composed and sung its hymn.
