The La Union Provincial Library, led by Provincial Librarian Marissa D. Acosta, received a Certificate of Recognition awarded by Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) as finalist for the Outstanding Regional Partner, Knowledge Resource Network (KRN)-Region I during the 2018 Awards and Appreciation Ceremony for BSP Stakeholders in Region l and CAR on August 24, 2018 at the Convention Hall of BSP La Union Regional Office, City of San Fernando.
Focusing on the theme “Reinforcing Partnerships, Defying New Challenges,” the event was conducted as part of the BSP’s 25th anniversary celebration. The awards ceremony was led by Monetary Board Member Felipe M. Medalla and Senior Assistant Governor Dahlia D. Luna to recognize this year’s awardees and stakeholders. The Outstanding Regional KRN Partners was awarded to partner libraries that promoted greater public understanding of essential economic and financial concepts and issues by providing free information materials and online research assistance.
At present, the La Union Provincial Library has a BSP Corner that contains BSP publications such as books, reports, guides, manuals, primers and brochures, as well as access to online publications and research assistance services. These information resources and services were made available to the local communities for free.
The KRN is an initiative of information and knowledge sharing that aims to enhance the public’s understanding of economic and financial concepts and issues, and thus empower them to contribute more meaningfully to economic development and benefit better from the opportunities that such development would bring.
