PGLU PROMOTES TRANSPARENCY THROUGH THE GOVERNOR’S PRESS CORPS

Members of the Governor Press Corps (GPC) convene for their first meeting on August 14, 2018 at the Diego Silang Hall, Provincial Capitol, City of San Fernando, La Union. GPC is an organization that provides relevant, timely, and accurate news about the projects, programs and activities of the Provincial Government of La Union to its citizens.
With the aim of Gov. Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” R. Ortega III to communicate all developmental programs of the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) to the citizenry, the Governor’s Press Corps (GPC) convened on August 14, 2018 at the Diego Silang Hall, Provincial Capitol, San Fernando City, La Union.
It was participated in by 41 members coming from the various departments and districts hospitals of PGLU. Agenda discussed during the meeting included programs, projects and activities (PPAs) of GPC as well as their accomplishments for the first semester. Planning of strategies for a more efficient process of information dissemination was also tackled.
Public Information Unit Officer-in-Charge, Ms. Joanna C. Guerrero presided the meeting in lieu of GPC Vice-Chair and Provincial Information and Tourism Officer Adamor L. Dagang. She discussed Executive Order No. 13, “Providing for the Reorganization and Strengthening of the Governor’s Press Corps” and underscored the key role of GPC in strengthening the active participation of the people through effective and efficient information dissemination of the various developmental programs of PGLU. “We are Development Communication practitioners and the people must know about the efforts of PGLU for them, she said.
With the revitalization of GPC, it is expected that transparency of transactions and access to information in the province would further improve. The GPC is holding another meeting in October.
GPC is an organization of Information Officers in the Provincial Government of La Union who are mandated to document all PPAs of their respective departments in cooperation with the Provincial Information and Tourism Office.
